On a warm Summer night early in 2013, Melbourne came out to play en masse for twelve breathtaking hours, enjoying lights, performances, displays and pure magic all over town. The inaugural White Night Melbourne event, which took place from 7pm Saturday February 23rd to 7am Sunday February 24th, was attended by an estimated 300,000 people (I heard reports of half to three quarters of a million) who wandered around the 80+ free events, displays and performances spread over eight precincts around the city.
