Sally McLean in new ‘Come & Say G’Day’ tourism campaign

Earlier this year, I was delighted to be included in Tourism Australia’s new “Come & Say G’Day” campaign, playing the cynical, world-weary bartender “Liz”, who also happened to be American.

The three minute short film dropped on their YouTube channel in August with the US TV cut downs dropping today on American TV.

Featuring Robert Irwin, Nigella Lawson and Sara Tendulkar, as well as fellow Aussie actors, Thomas Weatherall, Nathan Phillips, and many, many more, this was so much fun to be a part of. Also, the amount of comments online about this campaign where so many people think the original short film and various cut downs are trailers for a new movie is hilarious. That said, I’d totally be up for reprising my role if a movie was ever made from this, just saying.

Huge thanks to the team at Citizen Jane Casting for calling me in for this and director Stefan Hunt for casting me as “Liz” and giving me the chance to play a hard-nosed, no-nonsense, utterly cynical American bar owner. She was so much fun to play! Big thanks also to co-director, Mark Malloy, for his excellent direction alongside Stefan on the shoot.

Thanks and praise also to Sean Lynch & Ron Smyck, my fellow barflies – both lovely actors & humans. And to the awesome crew who were a joy to work with as well.

Finally, big love and thanks to the team at Natalie Hall Management for their wonderful support of me and my work. Love you all.
