New awards for acting and directing, new reel and more – hello June!

Award announcement from the London International Motion Pictures Awards for Shakespeare Republic winning “Best Ensemble Cast (Series)” Award in May 2019

It has been a crazy month of May, which has been wonderful and brilliant and I am so grateful to everyone who made all of it possible!

Firstly, the team at Shakespeare Republic were delighted and thrilled to win the “Best Ensemble Cast (Series)” Award at the 2019 London International Motion Pictures Awards, held in the UK mid-May. This is our second award for “Best Ensemble” and myself and all my fellow cast are so grateful for this recognition of the work!

Huge thanks also to two of my close friends and former BBC colleagues, Erica Banks and Karen Colbron, for attending the Awards on my behalf and accepting the award for the team! The photos below show how much fun they had and I am so grateful to them for being there!

A week later, Shakespeare Republic had it’s French Premiere as a Finalist at the Côte d’Azur WebFest which took place during the 72nd Festival de Cannes as part of the Marché du Film – Festival de Cannes program!

The series screened at the at the Gray d’Albion 4 on the Croisette (one of the official Cannes Film Festival venues) on the French Rivera among a diverse selection of series from around the world on May 18 to a fabulous audience reception.

And then I found out that Season Two of Shakespeare Republic was the recipient of TWO awards from the Festival!

Award announcement from the Côte d’Azur WebFest for Shakespeare Republic winning “Best Director” & “Best Dramatic Web Series” Awards in May 2019

Shakespeare Republic is the proud recipient of the Côte d’Azur WebFest’s “Best Dramatic Web Series” Award and as creator/director, I was named and awarded “Best Director”! Just extraordinary!

I was so thrilled to have the series screen alongside some of the great series currently on the circuit, including Underland, Life Of Jess, The Spell Tutor, The Pantsless Detective, Chateau Laurier, Marked and Sagesse de Rue, among others. Congrats to all our fellow official selections, nominees and winners at the fest! I am so proud to have Shakespeare Republic listed among your number!

Huge thanks also to Clinton H Wallace, Festival Director, who shared the following with me after our win was announced: “… such a great concept, amazing actors and awe inspiring production quality … establishes the standard of how bright the future will be for professionally produced web series.” – Clinton H Wallace, Cote d’Zur WebFest (Cannes, France)

Just amazing and so lovely to hear. So grateful to be part of the web series world!

May also saw the release of my latest acting reel, which you can watch above, featuring clips from Utopia, Upper Middle Bogan, The Trinity Experiment (Directed by Clayton Jacobson) and ‘Till The Boys Come Home. You can also see the full-length clips on the Videos page here.

June has already provided some wonderful opportunities, that I can’t talk about yet, but can’t wait to share with everyone when I’m allowed. While I’m on that subject, however, I’d just like to say a huge thank you to one of my favourite creative collaborators and close friends (you know who you are) for having my back and walking me through a few “firsts” this past week that would have been a lot less fun without you there! Thank you for your kindness, patience and invaluable support. You rock.

Until next we speak, take care, be kind and keep shining as only you can.
